This a major change that affects a player's ability to breathe in and out under extreme physical exertion.
Maybe. I’ve never worn a shield, but did go through 2 a days in the August Louisiana heat. And in a time when even water breaks weren’t even often given. I’ve tried to imagine what a shield would feel like, and I think I would have been able to breathe fine. But I was a 185 pound high schooler, not a 300+ pound collegiate lineman. I will obviously defer to the players wearing them. But is everyone complaining or just a handful? Is it 5 out of 100 or 50? Have they given them enough time to adjust to them? I have no idea.

It is a horrible idea that should be shitcanned immediately.
This is why people hate you. You may, in fact, be right. It may wind up proving to be a terrible idea. But you are not in a position to speak so authoritatively. None of us are. And I will allow that those who actually are are treading in these uncharted waters with the best intentions, not the worst.
Let me ask you 2 simple yes/no questions:
1) Do you think Jack Marucci and company are monitoring blood/oxygen levels and comparing them with the face shields vs. the “normal” baseline?
2) If you said “yes” to # 1, do you think they are dismissing lower blood/oxygen levels that may lead to poor outcomes (i.e. heat stroke)?

You seem extremely invested in this subject.
Some company want to ride the COVID panic by selling 7 cents worth of plastic for 14 bucks a crack to the more than 5 million Americans who play organized football. And each player will likely need a dozen or so.
Again, where is the testing that says this is a safe product? Doesn't exist, right?
