I remember seeing this somewhere, Cuss Collar

A collar that says curse words when your dog barks. I guess that’s kind of like translating, probably would be like the language the O-T uses around their dogs anyway

How is this not already a thing by now? Seems simple enough to implement. And prob wouldn't cost that much more.

teleporters/transporters were on the edge of that- apparently we're ALREADY playing around with that, and able to do static molecular strings.

Issue is it will actually kill your current self and make an exact replica on the other side. Have fun with that.

I would like to see a zipper fly in a pair of chest waders. Sounds so simple, butt anyone who could invent such a thing would be rich beyond their wildest dreams...

FTL Drive
the book I read, he put that one way down the road. Just way too much involved.
I found that kinda funny, as in popular sci fi shows and movies, it's pretty much commonplace. You get the sense it's close, but really it isn't.

Super conductivity

That's the big one, if we can see that in our lifetime.
So many things seem incredible, but we already have the ideas in place to do them. We just need adequate power sources.
Like I said earlier, you could ALREADY have a lightsaber, if you could only find a small enough power source. Same thing for "blasters" etc. You could make many "sci fi" gadgets, if you had a battery capable of generating enough power.

If we can conquer the room-temperature superconductor problem, we could probably see all sorts of crazy shite within a decade.

And I really don't think I'd have the nerve to be "energized" ?

Something I've debated with fellow Star Trek dorks is you are killed in the process and your exact copy, not you, goes on. So I would not want to be energized either.

A rocket that goes to Mars, allows the first crew to begin constructing the modular living quarters (so people could switch in/out living there in space station like time periods), and the flight back... which I hope means being able to see Martian soil/rock samples with my own eyes the same way my parents got to see the moon rocks.

I'd love for my grandchildren to have an economically viable way to at least get into lower earth orbit to go around once or twice. (A more expensive "theme park" type of experience.) I remember and still think "what if my grandparents were here now" with technology. I was able to show them dialup internet, laptops, and digital pictures/videos. When my grandpa was my current age they were only a couple of months away from the first Presidential TV debate (Nixon-Kennedy.) His teenage years were during the depression and his unit was in Bastogne. All of this today would have been considered unrealistic sci-fi back then. Last Monday night I sat in the exact chair and location my great grandpa (born in 1900) sat for holiday meals...playing a PS4 connected to the internet via wifi on a flat screen TV. It was a bit sobering and in the context of this topic it is quite thought provoking.
