Why do I care what Great Britain thinks about treason?

Treason against my own country by one of its citizens, particularly one who took an officer’s oath to that country, well, that’s just seems like a bigger deal to me.

How is George Washington a traitor to the US? That's the fricking difference, and I know you're smart enough to know the difference.

If there are some pretty big differences.

Mainly Washington won.

When you fight a war against England and end up not as an English colony but the United States, you’re a patriot.

When you fight a war against The US and end up a part of the US, you’re a traitor:

Yup, and George Washington committed treason against Great Britain.

My guess is, had George lost, they wouldn't have built a bunch of statues all over England and named British elementary schools after him.

Washington WAS a traitor, to England. We don't really care about that, do we?

This is some advanced stupidity right here. Washington revolted against the British Empire because of it's tyranny.

The South left the US because slavery was on it's way out

I have yet to read through this entire thread but I know you will be accused of supporting a return to chattel slavery simply for broaching this topic.

This nation would never — NEVER — have been formed if the sovereign and individual States were told that entering into a larger Union was a perpetual compact until death.

It has taken generations upon generations of government education and brainwashing to create a citizenry so utterly ignorant of our nation’s founding history.

“However strong a Government may be, it cannot easily escape from the consequences of a principle which it has once admitted as the foundation of its Constitution. The Union was formed by the voluntary agreement of the states; and these, in uniting together, have not forfeited their nationality nor have they been reduced to the condition of one and the same people. If one of the states chooses to withdraw from the compact, it would be difficult to disapprove its right of doing so, and the Federal Government would have no means of maintaining its claims directly either by force or right.” Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America.

They weren't traitors, because there never was any civil war.

The South wanted to secede, not take control, like the commies did with Russia.

Anyone that calls Confederates traitors is simply using feelings instead of logic and facts. The documents of the founding fathers clearly show that states were sovereign entities that voluntarily joined the union and had the power to withdraw. The Constitution did not give the federal government the power to force states to remain either. It is cut and dry for anyone not driven by emotions.

Anyone who's seen the historical docu- film "The Patriots" starring the great Mel Gibson already knows these facts

BLM and ANTIFA are traitors by the same definition.

The colonials rebelled for a decent reason, the Southern Democrats seceded because they lost an election (which was their fault, since they wouldn't compromise with northern counterparts)
