Maybe we could get a PT Tech Thread going for alternative options. Most people probably don't realize there are other options. While not perfect (eliminating Google 100%) it is progress.

Personally, I have started using Outlook for email, Onedrive for cloud storage/office, and Brave/Duckduckgo for browsing/search. I also have a proton mail account setup but haven't started using it.

Been using Android phones since day 1, likely will switch to iPhone when it is time. I finally got an iPad last year and the OS and ecosystem are growing on me.

YouTube and gmaps will be the hardest to get rid of. I suppose I could create a new clean account just for YouTube. Maps has too much invested (2000+ places marked) and is too good a product to abandon. Which kinda sucks because GPS/maps is the easiest way to be tracked.

Any alternatives to Google maps? I know apple maps was horrible initially but has made gains. Waze is owned by Google so that doesn't help anything.

Eta: Also use a pixelbook go which I just bought so that kind of undermines everything else for the time being. I will probably buy a MacBook Air next go around.

Any recs for <$1000 laptops that are not Windows?

Fair Enough. Yes, I do it on Conservative Boards after I see a "I hate Google" thread and then everybody keeps using Google. I do think it is hypocritical. Doesn't make good walking around sense to me.

There is a Tech Board. Sometimes there is a fine line between being here or there. I responded to a guy re VPN this past week. Looks like good info there. VPN

I'm actually not a big Apple fan. I have an iPhone and iPad. Got a 6s for $120 about two year ago. Don't need top of line. I use them as their Privacy Policies are better than Android, and it is not close. Apple maps is not as "good" but works for me. I'm holding off on Apple laptop and until they give in on touch screen. So, cannot help you there.
