Gettysburg

When White Men were proud to be White Men. Watch this whole thing and tell me this honestly doesn't make you at least somewhat emotional. This is from Gettysburg, my favorite Civil War movie and one of my favorite history movies. This whole scene was unscripted. The extras playing the Confederate soldiers did this randomly. It was not meant to be a part of the film but the director liked it so much he put it in there. I'm really surprised that YouTube has allowed this clip to stay up.

I don't care what a single person today says. With the exception of those who have also served in the Military, Robert E. Lee, the other Confederate Generals and the Men who fought for the Confederacy were more American than almost any of our boys today (and yes the boy term is intentional, very few Men today). I would've absolutely followed Robert E. Lee into battle. Everyone who fought in the Civil War had more Patriotism in one finger than most Americans today will ever have.

This is what proud White Men need to teach their children because the government never will. The Confederacy was wrong on Slavery, I don't defend Slavery in any way, but they were right on government overreach. The Confederacy knew what the federal government could become if left unchecked and they fought against that. We now see why they fought. We haven't truly had state rights since the Civil War and what few rights we do have get eroded more and more each day.

I don't care what anyone says, I would fight for any of the Generals in the Civil War, Union or Confederate. Those were Men worth following. Those were Men that you would gladly give your life for, because you knew they would give their life for you. That's why the left hates Trump, he's a Man and not afraid to stand by his convictions. He's the first President in my lifetime that I would follow into battle. He's the first President in my lifetime that I would die for. Part of me truly believes I was born in the wrong time.

All of this unrest has showed me one thing. You need to find out right now who your true friends are and who would put a knife in your back if it benefited them. Some of those people who would betray you might even be family. I am absolutely keeping track of who my true friends are. As the old saying goes, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

I truly believe that this country is about to unravel into chaos. People are too afraid to admit it but the Second Civil War has begun. This time it's worse though, it's right vs left, country vs city. No area of the country will be spared fighting. People on the left will have no honor like the Union and Confederate Generals did. We are fighting for our race, our values and our very way of life.

Maybe not. But did you ever think it would go this far?

I consider Glenn Beck to be a nut, but he was right on one thing. Years ago he said you wouldn't recognize the country in a few years. Up would be down, down would be up, right would be wrong and wrong would be right. Sadly that was the one prediction he made that has come true.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

That was an excellent movie. I liked chamberlains address to his Maine unit at little round top. Very stirring.

But I will take issue with why men fight, and I have had this said to me by veterans and by soldiers throughout history.
Men and women don’t fight and die for ideals, ideology, land, oil, property, home or family.
Men and women fight and die for the one to their left and the one to their right. Personal obligation to support their unit comprises all “bravery”. It’s a solemn commitment.

I'm definitely guessing he doesn't want anyone to remember that he played Robert E. Lee. He's hoping the movie has been long forgotten.

To me what was so good about the movie was that they tried to look at it from a neutral historical context. They didn't approach the movie with a "North good/South evil" like almost anyone today would.

I agree that Chamberlains address was a highlight of the movie.

In terms of why men and women fight and die, I agree they don't for land, oil, property or ideology. That's why we've failed so miserably with all the Middle East wars. We're essentially fighting so some oil tycoons can get rich.

I disagree about home and family though. That's exactly why most people fight and die. To protect their family and their community. If black people (or even liberal whites) take the approach that all white people are evil they are eventually going to try to make it out to the suburbs and they won't care about your family. So who will defend your family? The cops? They'll be completely neutered. You alone? Sure you might take out a couple of them but eventually the mob will get to you and your family.

I agree that it's a solemn commitment and that a person will have loyalty to their unit. That they will sacrifice for their unit in the heat of the moment. But deep down family and their community are exactly why people fight.

Only if President Trump loses, they know that as well, they know the battle is now because after he is reelected, it is over

Eloquently and passionately stated.

It's unfair to judge adversely men whose loyalty, devotion, and love of country began first with the state of their births and extended from there to the Republic.

I thought this scene from Gettysburg poignantly makes that clear. To refer to these soldiers as traitors is unjust.

Thank you for posting your link. As an aside, I wonder if Sheen will be forced to grovel and bow in apology for portraying Robert E. Lee with such sympathy and grace?
