It was an ENTIRELY different world in terms of recruiting coverage/attention when Peyton signed, and even still with Eil.
Peyton had a small ceremony/press conference at his HS about a week before signing day to announce he was going to Tennessee. No one really announced "commitments" then. And if they did, it was generally very close to signing day and you ultimately signed with the school whom you publicly committed to. I recall Eil's recruitment being much the same way. There was very little coverage of recruiting. You knew some of the big national names and the really good players in your state, but that was about it.
But I don't think that was as much the case because of the family as much as it was there was no social media nor cottage industry of "recruiting coverage" at the time. I'm sure Arch's family will counsel him and help in every way. But you have to remember, this kid doesn't know a world without social media or recruiting "experts", paysites, etc. So I suspect his recruitment will be much like most top prospects today. Though probably not the circus act attention-whoring many other players make it out to be. I also suspect that once he commits somewhere that will probably be it. None of this "I'm 'committed' but still open to offers"
