Getting Crews & Drost to campus is huge. Hopefully that gets them going in the right direction.

Yes, thinking of it in terms of players like Floyd, Crews, Drost, Thompson, and Money making it to campus and developing when in a normal year two or three of those may have played their way into being selected, and the couple that did make it to campus really needing to be a “hit” and become cornerstones.

Then following up next Summer with a similar group if the draft continues to be scaled back in some capacity.

I think Thompson might have been the most important recruit. He could possibly be our starting SS the next 3 years.

I like the bold prediction of Doughty to outfield by Lester Earl. Doughty didn't have a consistent glove in the infield of course that can change. Thompson, Arnold and Cranford could be your 3 best infielders. I don't know where that would leave Doughty or Mathis.

They will be somewhere. I'm sure Doughty's glove will be much improved. Those are two bats that need to be in the lineup. If they aren't it means the guys who replace them can absolutely rake.

Those three players have a combined 30 at bats at the college level. I can promise that Doughty will be in the lineup somewhere because of his bat.

The outfield is going to be crowded. Hampton, Crews, Drost, DiGiacomo, Toups, Sanford.

Yea Doughty has to be in the lineup. I say Beloso is the best returning bat but Doughty is most likely to turn into that cornerstone hitter. He played OF early in his HS career. Put him in RF & let him hit. You have a collection of middle inf that can play 2nd.

Mathis will start at 3rd.

It’s going to be tough for Hampton to be a major contributor unless he becomes a full time player, and unlike some others in the past his place on the football depth chart means that probably won’t happen.

That is true

I still think Crews, DiGiacomo, and Drost are three of your better bats and they need to play somewhere.

DH may have a combination of Travinski, Garza?, Bianco, among others.

The IF will finally have some depth but it’s unproven and some guys will do things better than others. Mathis will only play in my opinion if he’s hitting over 0.300. Arnold has potential but needs work defensively as well. Thompson will be the best of the bunch and I could see him sliding anywhere as needed.

I also know defense is something that can absolutely improve on at the college level especially 2B and with his bat it makes sense.

Can Thompson hit? Or is he a defensive guy?
Wasnt impressed with defensive play infield in the few games we saw

He’s a very fluid defender with an elite arm. The hitting is ok for the college level but it’ll take him time to warm up.

If defense is needed on the left side of the infield he’s absolutely going to play either SS or 3B.

Just a little 2021 draft preview:

- Jaden Hill is currently considered a top ten player
- If the draft is pushed back to July, Alex Milazzo will be a draft eligible sophomore
- Most of the HS class is a draft risk at this point

I hope Bianco puts it together, I thought last fall he was going to rake this past season and it was much like 2019.

Yea LSU needs to hit on a couple elite arms in the 2021 class. Id expect to lose just about every major contributor on the mound.

The current class only has maybe 2 I would say are day one contributors. They need to load up on a couple more high schoolers and 2-3 JUCO arms. It shouldn’t be a hard recruiting sell given the guarantee of playing time.
