I agree with this. I’ve gotten some good results on old school topwater baits that aren’t popular now like a Tiny Torpedo. A lot of pond fish have never seen a dropshot or Carolina rig.
I also like to fish at times when other people don’t. Usually very early or late - even in the dark.
Finally, I tend to downsize the baits. The smallest version of the Strike King squarebill (1.0?), a small buzzbait, Zara Puppy, etc.
