why would we give up invaluable reps to our QB of the future for a dude who could barely put up 12 points?

he's a better QB

Its amazing how people forget that winning football games is the point of playing games.

Dude went 5-0 as a starter, no way you can criticize the decision making him the starter during that span.

that's called results-oriented thinking, baw

Defense carried Teddy and he’s still as trash as he was last year and the year before.

Future always proves Vanilla Ice to be correct.

Uh, Teddy Bridgewater won five games for the Saints while Drew Brees was hurt. He was undefeated, right?

I don't know how much I believe that Taysom Hill is the future QB of this franchise at 30 years old and only attempting a handful of passes. He's no LJax. I love him, I really do. But this is a pocket QB league, no matter how many MVP's Jackson wins because of his highlights.

Let's say Taysom does take over and plays a hybrid QB like Jackson. What happens when he gets hurt, like he and Jackson inevitably will? You need a pocket passer.

The running QB is a flash in the pan, short-lived carnival of fun. But it's not a long term answer.

I’m guessing CSP thought that Taysom was only capable of putting up 11 points or less. It’s not rocket science kiddo

Taysom forced Payton's hand, i think. He wants QB money, not utility guy money.

Another point is, if Payton doesn't play Teddy and he doesn't go 5-0, Teddy isn't worth as much on the open market. So, playing Teddy was a good thing.

I'm not so sure either. If Taysom is the future qb why would the Saints even take a chance at another team signing him. I know if I had the next Steve Young I wouldn't dangle him in front of the rest of the league for a first round pick.

Sure, but at some point the results pass a threshold that you can likely distinguish signal from noise. 5-0 for a backup QB is sufficiently past that threshold IMO.

Being aware of results oriented thinking is a good step, but there's more to the picture. Otherwise you could call every discussion of real world occurrences result oriented thinking, no matter the sample size.

Taysom will be a very good starting QB and will beat out Jamie’s for starting QB next year.

We drafted Taysum's replacement in the 7th round - the kid from Penn St/Miss St. If Taysum throws a tantrum for not being named the starter or causes a problem when it doesn't work out for him here, we will trade him. We already have that scenario locked and loaded. Taysum is going to have to earn the job. If he can, I am happy as hell for him. If not, accept your role or move on. No malcontents on the team.

I like to see Winston alot in preseason. I think he has great ability in Payton scheme offense.

If he was that good of a thrower of the football he wouldn't be doing all this other stuff. And the best part of his game is about to start diminishing....his athleticism. I like him for what he is. A weapon on offense. Not the starter.
