Well for starters, he didn’t hold up well last year against us. He wasn’t as bad as Diggs, but nothing jumped out. He played poorly against Clemson his freshman year as well. When he plays against future NFL talent, he’s no more than an average player. The draft hype he received was based on his profile out of high school and his last name. Much like Carter, bama wasn’t great in the secondary which forced him to play in 2018. Savion Smith started opposite him for fricks sake.

LSU fans are the only ones that think Moses & Surtain aren’t good lol

I agree. He looks to give and play back at the lb position. For such a freak of an athlete, he seems to play reserved. Honestly, he would have been better off as a RB.

That's correct. I'm a LSU fan and I believe that Moses and Surtain are both overrated. Surtain is long, but lacks tackling skills. Sometimes Surtain appears to avoid contact totally. Did he make the right choice going to Alabama? I believe so because he sure does not start at LSU his freshman year. Remember, Greedy started at one corner, and five star Louisiana Kelvin Joseph at the other. Surtain was no Kelvin Joseph when he was a freshman. Like I posted before, sometimes very good players sign with Bama because they have a better chance of playing early. LSU is loaded. Alabama beat LSU eight games in a row because of coaching. PERIOD. Two of those eight games should have been LSU victories. Vadal Alexander penalty cost the Tigers the game, and the other game was lost to a drop pass. The past is the past, but losing to Bama year after year is over. I expect this LSU team to be in the running for the playoff, and they must beat BAMA. Otherwise, this shine will not be as bright from 46-41. I expect a great season, and I could care less about Dylan Moses, or Patrick Surtain.

He didn’t have a bad game. Did anybody hold up well against Burrow last year? That’s not a good indicator of who’s good and who’s not. That was the most prolific offense in cfb history.

Surtain had an 83.5 PFF grade in 2019 with good grades in run defense, coverage and tackling.

quote:

Living up to his lofty pedigree, Surtain II is the country's fourth-highest-graded cornerback and has been as sticky in coverage as anyone. He hasn't allowed a touchdown on 34 targeted throws and has allowed just 140 yards and a passer rating of just 36.4 into his coverage. Chipping in with nine defensive stops and two fumbles forced, the sophomore has all-around ball skills that are well beyond his age.

The SEC is littered with NFL talent and he’s played pretty damn well for two years. Just admit your wrong

If they offered off of personal evaluation they obviously thought he was better coming out of high school also

If you think he’s worthy of being the top corner drafted, good for you. I don’t see it that way. Some people may agree with you and some may agree with me. I’m not going to admit I’m wrong because I’m giving an opinion. I’m just going by what I’ve seen from him on the field. I don’t think he’s a bad player, but I don’t think he’s some elite talent that will have a great pro career.

He rang up some sack stats in that role as he rarely saw the field on early downs unless Bama was up big. Good player who obviously was over drafted.

Made LSUs tackles his bitch in multiple games.

I don’t trust PFF evaluation after they gave a terrible pass blocking LSU offensive line the #1 rating a few years ago

We dodged a bullet with Surtain. Not sure he would even be starting for us.

Careful, you’ll ruffle Surtain’s fanboys feathers in here with words like that.
