that was a really fricking good movie. heath ledger took the joker to a whole new level, ridiculous. my only complaint with these movies, and it's pretty minor, is the level of suspension of disbelief that's required to believe some of what they have batman doing. how is bruce wayne with nothing but those grappling hooks and pulley regularly standing on the top of skyscrapers like it's nothing?

SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

This won't have much for spoilers, but I figure I'd offer the disclaimer so I don't get bitched out.

I enjoyed it.

Bale is about as overhyped as an actor as there is. Don't get me wrong, he's done some good work (American Psycho, Machinist), but he's always a bit overplayed, and he doesn't seem to bring a lot of original dynamics to any character.

It's a damn shame Heath Ledger died. Not just because of the possibility of more Batman flicks, but because unlike Bale, he brings a dynamic to every role. Whether he's playing a gay cowboy, an emanation of Bob Dylan, or the Joker, Ledger embodies the character. Each character has a different set of ticks and mannerisms; each character is his own. He really was one of, if not THE, best young actors around.

That said, Ledger is a force in this movie. Outside of the action scenes, nearly every moment he's on the screen sizzles. I took a particular liking to the scene where he's being held in captivity and Batman is questioning him. The tension and energy of that scene alone is phenomenal.

The writing, generally, is sound. There were some very cliched, over the top, campy styled lines that could be distracting (almost all from Batman).

Aside from Ledger, I'm impressed with Gary Oldman. His portrayal of Gordon is probably the second best acting job in the flick. Caine as Alfred is quite good as well.

First 1/3 is definitely builder, but it begins on a high, high note. It's 2 1/2 hours but never boring. That's a feat in itself. Nolan really packed A LOT into this film.

As for Nolan, he's a hell of a director. He's got a great eye behind the camera. It's interesting to see him take on such a huge franchise. He knows how to make a good film.

Overall, greatly enjoyable to watch. Deserving of its accolades. Definitely not a top 5 film or anything like that... but very, very good.

I bought midnight tickets weeks ago, and I was not disappointed at all. I could not believe how awesome this movie was. I had chills for the entire first Joker seen. I left this movie unbelievably amped. Easily the greatest action movie that I've ever seen. I'm going to watch atleast 2 more times in theatres to decide if it is the best movie I've ever seen. This is by far the best written action movie of all time. It was unbelievably clever.

SPOILER:

My favorite seen by far was when The Joker slammed that guys head into the pencil. That was just great writing. I also loved it when he would explain how he got his scars. WHAT A GREAT MOVIE!

Ok I posted on my phone last night, but here is my day after review. This movie was everything and More that I hoped that it would be. It was easily one of my favorite movies ever and definately the best movie viewing experience of my life. The fact that Nolan almost never uses CGI made the viewing experience the best.

Ledger: Easily the best villain of all time. He was just amazing to watch. He was scary, clevor, funny, intimidating, and most of all he often made me forget his name was Heath Ledger and convinced me it was really "The Joker" and that is what all great actors are supposed to do. The fact that it was such a great performance made it even more bitter sweet because that guy obviously had so much potential. Definately Oscar worthy.

Plot: The whole plot made me forget it was a superhero movie. The Drama of the many life or death intances made me sit on the edge of my seat often. With movies like this there are usually one sequence near the end where people say "oh the movie was alright, but the end battle sequence was cool". There were about five of those in this movie not to mention little twists and turns throughout the movie. This movie had me guessing one way, changing my guess to something else, and then going a complete other direction from the two things I thought were going to happen. That is truly what makes movies classics.

What sucks for them is that if they make a third then there will be no way that they could out do this one. Kudos to everyone that was part of making this movie in any way.

just got back and wow......

awesome fricking movie. I was worried I was going to be disappointed in Ledger after all the hype its gotten the past few days, but man he fricking knocked it out of the park. I never go see a movie multiple times in a theatre, but I may change that

spoilers I guess

I really have no clue how they can do a 3rd film after this. Even if Dent is still alive like some here speculate he just wasn't interesting enough to bring back. To me it looks like the plan was obviously to bring Joker back, but I can't see any actor wanting to touch this role anytime soon.

saw the movie on friday, I really liked it. The only thing that annoyed me was when christian bale turned into batman and used that whispery deep voice. I thought that was silly. I felt like the show was less about Batman and more about the lawyer guy. WTF was Maggie gyllenho doing as the lead femaled. she's soooo fug. Joker was outstanding, give that boy an oscar and a SAG.

finally made it out to see this. Incredible movie. I had really high expectations and it was better then I thought it would be. I was completely blindsided on several occasions with the plot. The Joker is incredible, just a really good movie.

I wanted to add my input on this...

As far as the movie goes, it was great. I had high expectations and they were pretty much met during the movie. Still some questions why they did some things to end the movie, etc.

In any case, Ledger was unbelievable. I've seen it twice now and it simply amazes me the voices he used, all the different pitches and the way he delivered his words was incredible to watch. His body language and the whole roll could not have been done better in my opinion. I've read someone say this is the best action movie of all time, I wouldn't go that far. I've seen a lot of Ledger's movies and I don't think there are that many actors who can transform themselves as well as he has done in all his movies (visual, voice). (From Brokeback to the Joker, etc)

Oscar worthy, definitely. He delivered the roll he was given and people will always remember the performance as it was superb.

There is no better villain that is so twisted yet so funny and interesting to watch.
