Full Moon is Thursday. I can't fish until Saturday. Will they still be on beds for cricket chunking or should I just go back to my crappie spots? I'm actually tired of eating crappie at this point. I want some crispy fried bluegill on white bread with lettuce, tomato and dukes mayo. BLT but bluegill instead of bacon.

They don’t just run up to the bank, make a bed, and have relations the day of the full moon and then leave the next day. You will be fine

Bream in most places, at least north La are just getting on the beds. Pretty much entire month of May is perfect for bream fishing

Hell, we are still seeing chinqs on beds that were built in mid March. There must be waves.

I don't know about chinquapin (shellcracker, redear [?]) but bluegill will spawn around every full moon as long as water temperature is over 70. Some warm places they'll spawn year round.

In my experience, catching them on beds, it's really productive on those three days with FM on the middle day. Falls off fast for bed fishing outside that window. But that's just been my personal experience and I haven't necessarily specialized in it, nor kept formal logs.

I was hoping some of yall would have more specific wisdom on how that curve works.

In my experience, the 7 days prior to to full moon and the 3 days after are prime time, as long as the water temp is > 68F. You should still see plenty of spawning fish.

The little ponds and lakes I fish when I'm just bank fishing are perfect for bluegill (bream where I'm from). If I'm fishing from the bank for crappie or bass in a brush pile and nothing is working, I can always flick 5 yards down the bank with any kind of small live bait(cricket, worm, or minnow) and catch some bream. No matter the moon...

That's half the fun when I go bank fishing and nothing is biting. I can catch easy bream for a few sammiches.
