Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. Since I was a kid we always went to Captain Dave's on the Gulf. Thought I may venture out a little this year.

Stewby’s in Fort Walton is the best seafood in the area.

We love Camille’s Cafe and the Restaurant but that’s mostly because we stay in Crystal Beach when we go to Destin.

Louisiana Lagniappe is great for fine dining.

It’s hilarious that half of S Louisiana makes their annual trip Destin every summer and eats at the same places they have back home.

So recommend something in Destin that you can't get in Louisiana

All things considered, it’s hard to beat a bronzed fish sandwich at The Back Porch on the beach
I like the Angry Amberjack Sandwich there.

Boshamp's is not open. They closed down early on and did not even do takeout. No date yet on when they might reopen. That was one of our favorites. Fantastic grilled oysters.

eta : O'Quigleys is a good seafood place. Re-opening today.

We go over there for work once a year and eat out every night. My rankings:
1. Seagar's $$$$
2. Cuvee (if still open) $$$
3. Bijoux's $$ get the lobster spring rolls!!
4. Harbor Docks $
5. Marlin Grill $$
6. Louisiana Lagniappe $$
7. Boschamps $$

This. Not beach front but this is the family's favorite place to eat that we stop at every time we go to Destin. We normally bookend to our vacations there with a stop going into and out of the area.

Cafe Thirty-A is our favorite. Mimmo's for Italian is very good. Louisiana Lagniappe is always good. I am supposed to go at the beginning of June. I hope these places are up and running, or if nothing else, at least the take out pizza from Mimmo's.

And then they shite on the rest of the SEC about a "lack of culture".

Friend,

There are but a few decent restaurants in Destin, and those so because they resemble southern Louisiana food in general and New Orleans food specifically. Even Destin's better high end restaurants like Louisiana Lagniappe would struggle to survive in New Orleans. The other option would be eating chicken and dumplings, non-Popeye's fried chicken, BBQ, and fast food, all of which are popular throughout the South, but are not very appealing to more refined New Orleanian palates. To be born in and be of New Orleans is a double edged sword, as we are blessed by great food. At the same time, it is a burden, for it makes our departures from the city all the more difficult, primarily due to our acclimation to world class food. Please forgive us when we enter your world and are confused, fussy, and even at times, what appears rude, for we require a certain level of cuisine. When it is not met, we are like mountaineers recently arrived from sea level come down with acute mountain sickness.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Friend,

I have only been twice, but neither time was I impressed. One time it was a soft shell crab dish. The crabs were rather small, not even half the size of an Impastato soft shell. They were cooked alright. The other time I got a grouper dish which was good, but at nearly $40 I could have gotten something significantly more interesting and better at GW Fin. I would be surprised if Louisiana Lagniappe would make it in New Orleans with their current menu, quality, and prices. I would not eat there if it were in New Orleans. But what do I know?

Yours,
