You are acting like he was a turnover machine. He really wasn't, not anymore than Mauck or Flynn, who both had double-digit interceptions the years they were starters, something Russell avoided.
I don't like Russell since the Bama Boy incident. I always said he wasn't going to be a good pro due to the lack of preparation and performance against good opponents.
He gets a lot of credit for beating Tennessee on the road in 2006, but he had 3 interceptions and a lost fumble in the game. No comeback would have been required.
We lost 23-10 at Florida in another game where he had 3 interceptions and a fumble.
We steamrolled a bunch of nobodies that year where he racked up a bunch of stats, and was drafted #1 on the strength of a Sugar Bowl against a wildly overrated ND team.

Yeah I'm not saying he was perfect. But he was pretty good. 2005 was a fun year too, with all the comebacks, as was 2004, when we nearly lost to Troy too.

I mean, that's fair, although I thought Bama Boyz was a reference to a record company his uncle supported.
I also think that Russell and Flynn were done a disservice by Miles and Fisher. Fisher was always going to stick with Russell, who he had recruited since he was an 8th grader. But Fisher developed QB's somewhat poorly in my view, and I wish Flynn and Russell got better instruction. On top of that, there was the whole "two playbook" issue between Miles and Fisher, and there was massive disagreements between Searels and Miles, which affected our running game ultimately, as our running game sucked in 2006 and we didn't do very much to help Russell. I mean, Fisher ran the same WR screens every game, but we still weren't all that creative. Who knew that 2006 and 2007 would be highpoints for a decade for our offense though.
