How many of those comebacks were required due to his multiple turnovers, spotting the opponent momentum and good field position leading to easy scores?

You are acting like he was a turnover machine. He really wasn't, not anymore than Mauck or Flynn, who both had double-digit interceptions the years they were starters, something Russell avoided.

He led the comeback against Oregon St, which was as much do to ineffectual playcalling and the weather as it had anything to do with him. He also was superb his freshman year in the Iowa game, where he spelled Flynn and Randall, going 12/15 and 2 TD's, before we lost the game on a blown coverage. It was really only his first two years he led a lot of comeback victories. Why his 2006 year is ignored is weird to me. But regardless, he was a fun QB to have.
