Plenty of open space b/w JR beyond the LOS, but he refused to run.

We were playing Tennessee over there when he decided he would use his legs. Look it up. As soon as he showed the ability to run, it completely changed our offense, opened up passing lanes, etc.

I remember, and was thinking at the time, JR is trying to improve his draft stock. I always wondered, earlier in the season, why he didn't run more. He could have been awesome with his big body.

He rarely got blitzed, b/c DC's were worried that they couldn't get him down and his arm was strong enough to still hit an open receiver.

He had something like 125 yards rushing in that TN game, then averaged close to 70 yards after that per game, even including loss yardage for the few times he got sacked.

Jimbo began to even incorporate running plays for him.

I never got a straight answer on the mystery of why he never ran before that TN game, even knowing some that were on staff and in the program at the time, but I have my suspicions.
