It's because people were congregating around the liquor stores into the evening...largely on the west side. So if you know chicago you get the picture. Also, white people never congregate around liquor stores.

So if the place is closed they can get run off for loitering.

I'm still dealing with Binny's in my neighborhood now closing at 6pm. I'm out of my tequila.

I agree. It's probably also limiting access to more alcohol later into the night...so you don't have the neighborhood drunks rolling up at 11pm or whatever, causing issues

Like I said, my place has been voluntarily closing at 6, so I was already a victim in all of this.
