Serious question, you have to pick one, what do you pick?

Which of these outcomes is net worse for society?

really should be a metric of years lost vs the expected lifespan

Dying 40 years sooner is a lot different than 2.

I'm not going to be the guy who has to tell a quarter million grandkids that I made the decision to off their grandparents to avoid a spike in the unemployment rate.

So bring on the 20% unemployment rate. I've been poor, I've been well off, but I've always been able to look at myself in the mirror when I got out of bed.

When it comes down to a choice between life and money, I'm going to come down on the side of life every single time.

Unemployment would be a lot higher than 20% in some of these shutdown scenarios people are throwing around.

I don't like to debate hypotheticals, but I can say with 100% certainty that my 91 year old grandmother would WILLINGLY die tomorrow before forcing her soon-to-be 3 year old great-grandaughter to live a decade of her life going through another Great Depression as she had to live through growing up.

I'll say it-

Football season canceled or 200k seniors dead. I choose football.

Either is horrible. Having a loved one die in a hospital alone and scared is one of my worst fears. Knowing they may suffer a horrible death because of lack of ability for care givers to make them comfortable is even worse. That being said I think more would suffer overall with 20% unemployment

Stop with the hypothetical you idiot. We’re not losing 200,000 seniors juniors are babies.

I'll say it...later grandma.

And I would say that if it were my parents, who are both in their 80s with substantial underlying health issues.

My answer is STILL go with the economy even if it's 2M dead.

I love my family but if I had to choose between unemployment and a crashed economy in my prime years at 29 years old and losing my grandparents, I'd have to choose losing my grandparents. All of them are in bad health and will likely be gone in 2-3 years anyways and they live out of state so I rarely get to see them
