Not really true depending on the job.

I had to work from home today and it sucked. I only had my laptop and I really needed two monitors and it was slow and it just sucked. Even with all the communication tools we have, it’s not as face to face communication.

With that being said, our new office as a rule will not have assigned desks and will have less desks that workers under the assumption that more people will work from home and office capacity generally ever really gets above 80% capacity anyway.

Except for people like me who work on the automated systems. My company doesn't allow external access to control systems, because some moron let his kid play with a reactor back back during the dial-up modem days.
