For starters, decent bosses already know how little the employees do. Also, working from home is not a new concept. Many companies have been doing this for years. For the most part, productivity typically increases and companies save money on office space. Of course some people suck at it and need to be at work to avoid the distractions at home. But overall, it can be a positive. Personally I think there is a value to the relationships formed at the workplace however I am more productive at home so I prefer a mix.
