I don't think a fire occured due to a firewater system not working/ having leaks. I think the correct use of words would be they had trouble extinguishing the fire due to a faulty fw system
Also if you dig in the ground in certain areas of a lot of these plants you are required to have a 4 gas meter or something equivalent. I've seen where the chemicals in the ground set the meter off and they are physically overwhelming so I think the aromatics are still there and yes they are not good for the environment.
