forgive me if I'm repeating someone else prior because I haven't read the whole, or the multiple, threads on Burch.

Reasons why the answer is no:
1. This is just the opening of the NLI period, has a couple months to do this.

2. You do not HAVE to sign a LOI. You can just sign financial aid papers, qualify, and enroll. This is becoming more popular by the way. The benefit to a LOI is that if you sign one AND qualify/enroll, the school has to provide you with a scholarship. For a high-level recruit like Burch, he's going to get a schollie so a LOI isn't that big of a deal.

3. Announcements aren't required. Until valid, which means signed AND delivered to the conference (have 14 days) he is still a recruit and can not be mentioned by name. If he signs and the school sends immediately, he can be announced [by name].
