Not really. The old school way was first establishing as a foundational belief, a sense of duty to the community. The "force/threat" was being shunned or banished from that community.

This is still essentially what we are doing.
Can't you see that the "taxation is theft" mantra works to erode the foundational belief you stated above?
That's not to say it's as damaging as the welfare state is to that belief.
