Anyone know of any free or very low costing alcohol rehab places in Louisiana? Family member needs to go very badly and doesn't have insurance. We are trying to get him on disability so he'll have Medicare but not sure how long that process will take and don't have time to wait. He has a little savings, but not much. Any help would be appreciated.

You’ve come to the right place.

But for real.

How far are you from Rayville, LA? That is the best.

You cannot put a price on what you are asking for.

If your family member isn’t the one directly asking for help don’t waste a dollar if anyone’s money

How many times has he been to rehab?

Don't put him in a good one the first time out bc he's likely to relapse.

It usually takes a few times for it to work unless he's really motivated.

How much is the one in Rayville? I know it'll be worth it and that it's priceless but he has limited funds at this point.

It's a great place that generally takes in people with no hope and very little money. I support some of their events and know a few people who work there.

An anonymous internet message board is definitely the place to ask.

Jk— don’t be a total dumbass and spend 8 seconds on Google. You’ll find an answer

You have a good point. He's not the one asking but is living with his mother (our family member) and it's a safety issue. We need to get him somewhere, removed from that situation. The best place for him to be is an alcohol detox place. But no, he's not asking. Family is all talking, trying to decide what to do at this point. I came here bc I know I can always get good advice.

Brother I do not know. About 10 years ago was about a step out the door from going there, but did it on my own (hard drugs that is). Had to do it.

Not everyone is so strong and I totally get it. But to save a life, if it is important to you, will be priceless.

Call them up. I do know a couple of the peeps who work there. They are good people. Palmetto. Just call. Worry about money later.

Can you tell us one of the worker's name? A social worker? Someone we can call and speak to?

It’s a tiered pricing schedule. Something like $13k first month, $10k second and $7k third and maybe a little cheaper for subsequent visits due to relaps.

So here's the truth.

Find a church. Tell him to find religion and there's a whole lot of free and cheap avenues for rehab.

He might get caught up in it and you might not want to be around him but depending where he is, many of the churches in La have steady rehab programs.

Be ready for the Bible.
