Aranda had us at the 31st ranked D this year. Pelini would have whooped some arse over that sorry performance

This is silly.

Anyone with 2 eyes could have told you the entire season that the defense was fine. In fact, I did over and over and over. And all anyone wanted to talk about was Vandy putting up 24, Texas shredding the secondary, or a QB running for 200+ on us, when those games did not tell the story of our defense. The truth is, the defense got stronger and healthier over the course of the year. And something that was always reliable with Aranda's defenses were that they showed up when it mattered. Just like they did the last 4 games of the season.

I don't have an opinion on Pelini one way or the other, but don't discredit what Aranda did just because you know how to turn on your computer and navigate to the NCAA website.

If Pelini runs the same D now that he did in 2005-6 he’ll get eviscerated by Leach and Kiffin and Mullen. The game has changed so much.

Big thumping safeties who just hit hard and run downhill isn’t how it’s done anymore

I completely share your opinion on the LSU D this year and the fine job Aranda did. Half his defense was playing on one leg for a good part of the season. Once they got healthy it was pretty much lights out.

I do, however, have an opinion on Pelini based on my observations of his defense here before and his record at Nebraska (which was STUPID to fire him); He would be an awesome addition to LSU again, and his D's would be top 10. I hope he comes back.
