When I was young (1st or 2nd grade, maybe 3rd), my dad and I were at mass around Christmas time and the priest just starts talking about how Santa isn't real during the homily. You had parents holding ears over their young children.
On the walk home, I asked my dad if it was true. All he said was "yes, but if you tell your mother you know we're returning your presents this year." I kept my mouth shut about it for the next couple of years.
