I would put LSU in at No.1, but when the committee looks at Top 25 victories and sees that Ohio State has four and LSU has three, and uses that to justify ranking one team over the other, I can understand where they are coming from.
Top 25 is such an arbitrary cutoff. Also, teams at the upper end are far more impressive than teams at the lower end.

Next week, when Memphis beats Cincy and LSU beats UGA, and Ohio State beats Wisconsin for the second time, you’ll be looking at each team having four wins against top 25 opponents, with LSU’s four being better than Ohio State’s four. If this truly is a 1A vs 1B situation as the committee says it is, with the margin of resume being so slim, the committee should place LSU #1 this Sunday.
I'm almost certain the CFP moved Ohio State last week to #1 so they could justify keeping them there when the conference championship is complete.

That, and they shot Wisconsin up and dropped bama hard. Not much they could do with 3 loss Michigan but they kept them basically where they were despite a 30 point home loss. They dropped Minn like a load of steel because Minn didn't play Ohio. I agree, they were setting the stage. Watch ga tumble when lsu wins. Watch cinn remain in top 25 when they lose yet again.
