What was even sweeter is this:
Bama Freshman Kicker Will Riechard (a consensus #1 Kicker in the country) had been committed to LSU since his sophomore year. Saban flipped him right at the end. We then signed Cade, who had moved into the #2 spot.
Will struggled earlier in the year, missing several, and having a bad injury that has kept him sidelined the remainder of the year.
In the meantime, our boy Cade has flourished. Cade is a super competitor. Many of you know of his stellar performance in the HS All-American game. But why you don’t know is the competition to select kickers for that game Cade was suffering with horrible back pain. The kind of pain that causes you to gnash your teeth and throws off every movement your body wants to make.
He went mind over matter and willed himself through that competition to put up the numbers to get that spot.
It is going to be a joy watching him for 3 more years.... and I will make a prediction:
At some point in his career Cade will break LSU’s record for longest FG in a game.
