Part of it is they are doing it very quickly. Its not drawn out. If you watch Jefferson, he ends it really quickly. Its not some NFL celebration with a guy doing a pseudo keg stand for 30 full seconds. Or on all fours hiking his leg on the end zone cone. Or using the football like a turd dropping out of his arse.

Most likely it would, b/c no matter how we view it, most officials would perceive it as taunting the other team.

Plus, I believe the rule of no celebrating prior to scoring is still a thing, which is technically what he was flagged for.

As others have said, I believe college has gone the way of NFL and allowed the celebrations back in, provided they are not taunting other team, the crowd, or acting as a delay of game in some way. Doubt you would ever see them get away with the elaborate celebrations the NFL teams are doing now though.

CEH straight up spiked the football vs Bama. No call. I was nervous.

Per NCAA rules, it would have to fit this definition to be Unsportsmanlike Conduct:
quote:

Any delayed, excessive, prolonged or choreographed act by which a player (or players) attempts to focus attention upon himself (or themselves).

This allows some interpretation but apparently none of the officials have been bothered by it thus far.

Yes because it was taunting not so much a touchdown celebration.

My understanding is that as long as they are not overboard, tauning the other team or fans they can do moderate celebrations.

I thin CEH got a way with it because if I recall he didnt exaggerate the movement to spike it was a quick deal that wasnt super obvious.

Likely because Jefferson is usually joined by teammates when he does his little dance

No, he did not.

How do people still think this?

That was taunting, and it SHOULD be taunting. He directed it right at the other players. That is not okay.

Only bad dancing is flagged now, and Jefferson’s dancing is spectacular.

Because they don’t flag celebrations as long as they’re not crazy or elongated or can be considered taunting.

Don't know. To my knowledge, it was the one and only time it was ever called. So maybe not?

That would be great if that is the case, it is a game they should be able to have fun. Don't need some old fuddy duddy outlawing dancing.

I know last week vs Ole Miss, the refs flagged Kary Vincent for his delayed celebration and Corey Raymond lit him up !
