If that Dilliards clearance center gets leveled it will be a huge net negative on the economic impact of my family.

You could go in there with $50 and have an entire new wardrobe. It was amazing how far your dollar would go.

It was like walking into Taco Bell with $5 back in the day.

I'm assuming state has promised road improvements in the area. But i agree, with a little touch up of the infrastructure the site is ideal for this type of facility. And there's plenty of good jobs associated with those centers. Hope it comes to fruition.

EBR already voted to improve Airline Hwy

All I read on the O-T and Poli Board is how much the Baton Rouge labor market sucks.

Louisiana in general needs a boost of white collar jobs.

I wish we had more regional/national corporate headquarters here to keep more young people in Louisiana. Or maybe some federal jobs.

Why do all of those federal agencies need to be in a high cost of living area like NoVa?

Here's an idea: If it means that much to you and don't agree with their plans - then you buy that muthafricker. Otherwise, get your dumb liberal arse out here.

Liberal? You are the one sucking the teet of big government west coasters. I am just trying to sport the little guy and the Arkansas family business

Yep - the corner of two major highways. Relatively easy access to the airport or either bridge across the Mississippi. I think the East Baton Rouge taxpayers are forking over a lot of cash to widen Airline Highway to 6/8 lanes in that area.

There is no better realistic outcome for the Cortana mall property than an Amazon distribution center. Those are good jobs with a stable company.

I bet that Amazon will be exempt from our stupid inventory tax.

So deliveries will not happen from the Cortana site. That will be a fulfillment/distribution center. You will only see 18 wheeler full of stuff leaving that place. It will supply product to most of Louisiana. The deliveries will still happen via a Amazon delivery station like the one on Airline, USPS, UPS, etc.

The current distribution/fulfillment center for Baton Rouge is located in Mobile, AL.

Hard to keep up with all the taxes, fees and licenses required in this state.

That tent on Airline was always just temporary. I'm sure they'll move their local deliveries here. It's only a couple miles away.

Wasn't that the main reason we don't already have a distribution center covering Louisiana?

Inventory taxes on 1,000,000 sq ft of product would have to be crippling.

It's one of the reasons that I think we miss out on regional warehouses, distribution centers, auto plants etc. I'm sure if this happens that we made an exemption for them. Taxing a business like that on their inventory would probably be a deal breaker.

Correct, it was always temporary home and a new permanent home will be found next year. But the new home will not be at the Distribution/Fulfillment Center.

It's because it's owned by Italians. If it was black owned he would be singing its praises.

Not gonna happen, Amazon doesn't frick around. The only change we will see is we might finally get 1-day or same day delivery.

I live in the Amazon mothership region and started getting same day delivery on some items recently. Most are within 1 day now. This isn't through the Prime Now app, which has done same day delivery on select items for a few years now.

It's been great.

We've gotten a few things same day in BR. It's mostly been fairly common items that they keep in stock locally though. Most stuff is 2 days. I'd imagine this will probably improve that though.
