I'd prefer seeing an elimination of all property taxes except on businesses, and move to sales/use taxes. Sales/Use taxes are more fairer, in that everyone shares in paying taxes. Those living in government housing, assisted living centers, etc. would still pay the tax with purchases made. The state property tax exemption doesn't preclude cities and towns from levying a property tax. I know because I just went to city hall last week and paid my mother's annual property tax.
