8 teams, Conference champs auto bid, 3 at large teams. Could even do 6 the same way just have 1 at large team

Too many games to be played for that. I think 6 is the right number.

When you get to the "at larges" you'll get back into the eye test.
I don't understand why there is a committee at all. As long as there is it will be biased.
P5 Conference champs with at larges picked via computer/algorithm. I mean. it really shouldn't even be that difficult.
1 point for any win.
an additional point for a win over a bowl eligible P5 team..
or an additional 2 points over an "elite" P5 team with 3 or less losses.
add additional half point for away wins.
-1 point for any loss.
-2 points for a loss to a non bowl eligible team.
add additional half point for home losses.
There are no "good" losses.
In the event of a tie, account for point differential or something like that. This encourages teams to schedule good teams. Or win their conference.
I did LSU, Oregon, Minnesota, and Bama under this "algorithm" for the fun of it.
LSU = 19 points
Minnesota = 13.5 Points
Oregon = 11.5 Points
Alabama = 8.5 Points
