LSU and Wade deserve a lot of credit for having the game yesterday.

Fun game on a non-football day. Radio said paid attendance was 8,600+.

That is pretty incredible for a scrimmage at La Tech.

Don't tell me what I have to do. Wade is entering year 3. Is an elite 8 too much to ask for? Or are we a fanbase just happy to make the trny?

Following Johnny Jones, I thought going 16-2 while beat ing Auburn, Tennessee and Kentucky (at Rupp) while winning the SEC would be too much to ask for, but Wade delivered more than anyone expected in year 2.

Given that it was for charity it's not too surprising, but kudos to everyone that showed up.

I agree with this part of your statement. It is the unreasonable expectations and the big talk of some of the posters that is aggravating. If LSU gets to the Elite 8 this year, it would be an incredible accomplishment. It is hard to do as both talent, timing and luck play a role.

Honestly feels like this team will go as Mays and Smart go.

I still think it's surprising even for charity. We're talking a basketball scrimmage in Ruston during football season. Agree with you about those who showed up.

Smart played really well. Him and davis will be the go to scorers. Davis didnt miss many open 3's. Also word is they will be coming back next year to play a game in Shreveport. Thank you LSU for helping us raise money. Over 100k in 1 day for the rebuilding of our campus.

Relax, King. Winners expect to win. Nobody's burning down the PMAC if they don't win the SEC or go far into the tournament. Having said that, every word and attitude should have a healthy bend toward expectations to do what it takes to win.

Yes, it is "too much to ask for." But aside from that, the point of my post had nothing to do with lowering expectations; so how about you kindly learn some reading comprehension skills before being an over-reactionary cuck.

Exactly. It’s all about the matchups you get in the tournament. If you can shoot the 3 well, you can beat anyone.

Thank you for this. I wish that more of the basketball "fans" around here would understand this. But I guess the idiocy of some can be excused by the fact that LSU hasn't consistently made the tournament in a long time; so so it is difficult for people to grasp that the best team/s simply do not always win there.

Making the tourney to Elite 8 is a big jump don’t you think?

In year 3 AT LSU, it’s absolutely too much to ask for. I’m not saying it’s not possible, but expecting it is ridiculous. I knew there would be people like you. Wade did so well in year 2 that he’ll be held to an unrealistic standard going forward. We could get bounced in the round of 32 and that wouldn’t change the fact that the program is on an upward trend.

Exactly!

Here is a stat I posted earlier in the thread in response to chinhoyang: Assuming that LSU goes to the tournament again this year, this will be the first time for consecutive appearances since 1993. 1993! Let that sink in. It has been 26 years since LSU has gone to an NCAA tournament in consecutive years. That is crazy. So to others asking if it is "too much to ask for" an elite 8 appearance or deep run in the tournament, in just YEAR 3 of a program rebuild; then yes, it is too much to ask and expect when there are so many factors at play.

This is the most rationale and intelligent basketball comment you have ever made. Sincerely.

And I agree with you, which is the scary thing. But, why people on here get aggravated with your usual comments is that you fault Wade for this or say that he is the one spewing unreasonable expectations and creating "big talk," while giving him little to no credit for the outstanding job he has done of turning this program into a winner. The truth is Wade does an excellent job of handling the media and creating excitement around the program, while still managing the expectations of the program and where it currently sits. He seems to just about always have a great pulse on his teams and what they are good at and bad at, and how it compares to other teams.

But there is also a difference b/w having excitement and a belief that the team CAN do well by looking at the talent of the players and the coaches, and having an expectation that they WILL automatically do well and go far in the season, and then be irrationally disappointed when that doesn't happen.

With LSU and the Saints having the weekend off I hadn't really considered this. That's a good point.
