Well played, sir.

The first Chick-Fil-A in south Louisiana was at the Hammond Square, which opened in 1981. The first Chick-Fil-A in the NOLA Metro was actually opened in 1984 in the Belle Promenade in the place where the fellas be yellin'. However, as it is across the river, I will exclude it from the metro for today's purposes, although some may argue for its inclusion.

The Esplanade Mall opened in 1983 on land which was previously owned by Sheriff Frank Clancy, and used as grazing land for his cattle and horses. Chick-Fil-A did not open until 1985 in this little nook on the second floor across from the main food court. At that time, you could get a combo meal for $1.99.

I am pretty sure the first Chick Fil-A in the New Orleans metro area was in the Lake Forest Plaza. Not sure if it was before the location in Hammond, but it was definitely open prior to 1984.
