1/3 of Smith's stats came from 1 game.

Jeudy is the most talented one in the country and still ha really good stats. Leads the league in receptions. Definitely could make an argument for him

It doesn’t take away from the fact that he played like a beast that game and shouldn’t discredit him from being on the list. He is uber talented

Chase and Jefferson are better than Jeudy

You could also argue Delpit has no business being on their either.

That said, the reality is AP voters and sportswriters are lazy. The can't watch every game and they don't go into intricate detail on the players. Usually they just look at those receiving preseason hype and just keep them in the list at the end of the season, despite other players being more objectively worthy. OR, best player, best team gets the nod.

Smith and Jeudy are good players who have had good years. But you could argue that the numbers show Jefferson and Chase have had just as good, if not better seasons, thus far. The ultimate decider should be that LSU's guys have put up similar numbers vs FAR better competition than Bama's guys. But, when you're a lazy sportswriter (and most are) you don't do deep dives. You see best team (Bama) and their best players and just pencil them in by default on many occasions

Derek Stingley

Don’t want to say I called it but...

Who would be surprised if Derek Stingley was the best CB in the country?

LSU's WR's have gotten virtually no respect all year, at least relative to what they deserve. Burrow has gotten a ton of well deserved attention, but people act like our WR's are just generic pieces on a game board, while our QB and "passing game coordinator" are the only relevant one's to our success.

Has anyone watched how Chase and Jefferson run routes? Has anyone watched the kind of catches they make? How they adjust in the air to back shoulder throws, like NFL receivers? Has anyone watched how they break tackles after the catch?

And with all of this success LSU is having, the media seems to have all but completely forgotten about Marshall. Has anyone watched HIM running routes, making great adjustments and breaking tackles? Does anyone remember that he was right with Chase and Jefferson in all categories before he got hurt? And he is coming back soon.

How can anyone have watched these receivers and not come away with the conclusion that they are AT WORST neck and neck with Alabama's receivers, and there is no close third team? I can't imagine what else it would take to convince people. But every time the subject of best receiving corps comes up, LSU barely gets any notice.

Literally Jefferson is the only WR they talk about, but Chase is a top 3 WR in college football and Marshall (though he’s injured right now) is easily top 10. It’s dumb
