do the Media also have control of the March Madness tournament selections, the FCS football playoff selections, college baseball playoff selections, etc.

Because a committee makes those at-large selections (with auto bids given to conf champs).

You do realize that a selection committee comprised of numerous people from different conferences is far superior to the BCS formula (2/3 human polls, 1/3 computer). And just remember that the formulas the computers use are programmed by HUMANS, and there's no agreement on what factors should be considered by the computers, and how much to weight each factor.

Give me a serious selection committee all day long over a computer.
