The computers aren't magic - they just output the results according to a human formula.
So why not let a group of serious people pore over a ton of data over several weeks to arrive at rankings, rather than put it in the hands of computers programmed by humans.
And also let's not forget the worst part of the BCS formula - it's two-thirds ridiculous human polls.

Computers do not have a personal agenda...the members of the committee may very well do.
Many have admitted that they do not watch all the games and that they ask the other members for advice... that's not how it should work.
BTW computers would not be programmed week to week, so the results would be consistent thru the season.
Obviously you are too young and do not remember when HUMANS used to manipulate the sys (reason for BCS)... we are back to that now.
