5 P5 champs 3 at large one being the highest ranked non P5. Would be annually a fight for one spot by teams like Boise UCF Memphis San Diego st etc. Reward the higher ranked teams with the home field. Or closer neutral site game if applicable So if there’s a 11-1 team that finishes 2nd n sec west for ex. And a conf champ with 3 losses the 11-1 team trumps them for more favorable site

The main problem with this is having a weak overall conference like the pac 12 with a 3 loss champ taking up space in the bracket There are no perfect solutions but clearly 4 isn’t enough.
