I’ve got a 2013 Civic and 2013 Tiguan....both of my kids say there is no comparison, the VW is hands down the nicer of the two. The Tiguan blows away the civic in regards to quickness. As far as maintaining them, the VW requires an oil change every 10k Miles and that maintainence, at the dealer, is $100. The civic gets oil changes every 6k, which comes out close to $100/yr as well. VW’s tend to blow away the road tests when CR or any entity does them. The fact that you haven’t had maintenance and reliability issues with the 2013 is fortunate but may not be the rules for that car. Here is what those CR surveys produced.
