This is what I don't understand. I had a Chessie that went to a trainer and they would call me every 2-4 days to give me updates and progress reports.

Is it common to drop a dog off at a trainer and not talk or visit with them for 3 months?

Lots of trainers shag arse up North to beat the heat this time of year so I guess some guys go radio silent when they leave but this story has Jerry Springer written all over it.

Text is what most do today since phone calls typically involve more time and they would be on the phone non stop while trying to work. Usually calls are made after trial is over to report on placements or problems.
This was a finished dog bought from a nationally known pro as a washout, dog had points and wasn’t an average washout.
I usually talked to new dog clients a couple times per week to give progress reports and tapered off once we were out of the danger zone. Probably gave my clients too much access to my time but that’s just how I worked. Wives and girlfriends were typically not on my call lists since they could be a PIA.
