Only two of those teams have any resemblance of a defense this year.

If a freshman QB at South Carolina can put up almost 400 yards on Bama, I’m sure Burrow can.

Not as necessary as some want to make it.

Ole Miss torched Bama two years in a row with a terrible running game.

We won't pass for 400 against Auburn.,

Oregon threw for 242 on them.
Mond at A&M threw for 335.

Our offense is light years better than either of those. Burrow will break 400 on them.

What if we only score 35 points per game....will that be enough against Florida, State and Auburn?

I doubt it. Especially if we keep playing defense like this. 35 wouldn't have been enough vs Vanderbilt.

Even if we drop to 325 to 350 per game with 3 to 4 TD passes, we will still win, but games may be a little closer.

No. The best we played so far is Texas and their defense isn’t as good as any of the teams you mentioned. Remember Texas was inside the 5 yard line and we stopped them both times. If Texas scores both times we probably lose.

Yes, of course it is... I think they have enough creativity in the offense. Saints won a superbowl with this basic layered route, pass happy offense, average running game and average defense, I think LSU can win a natty.

I'd like to think so, but with THIS defense...

here's my question. against better defenses we won't have as many explosive plays. can we sustain drives though? take 3-5 minutes to score instead of a minute and one half. in these games our defense will be better because of TOP if we can make those longer drives.

These "elite" SEC defenses are built to defeat ground and pound attacks. Burrow and the WRs will jitterbug through them like they aren't even there.

Now if you try RUNNING through them you'll get you arse in a sling.

duh...think that would of made it 45-52 extra points depending amirite?

If we didn’t stop them the first time, they also would of never intercepted the ball at the 4 or 5 for a second try at it. We get/stay healthy up front (getting EI back yuuuge), we continue to trounce folks IMO...”tougher” teams may keep it closer, better D limits the track meet that is the O, but we haven’t seen the best and certainly not the last of this D...just my 0.02

No.

2019: 432 yards per game(2nd)

But keep in mind, ALL the top teams will be getting into the meat of the schedules now, so even if Burrow's production goes down, his national ranking could still go up - but not much.

Even averaging a worst case of only 250 per game for the last 8 games would still be a season average of 311 per game.

That's over 4000 in 13 games.

I know you care more about yardage for Burrow, but if we avg 250 a game from here on out, we will have multiple losses on our hands.

We won’t keep the average of 432/game but no reason we won’t finish the season averaging around 350

2009 Saints ranked #6 in total rushing per game. Try again

#2 in turnovers forced

With a slight drop off, yes. Florida is the only SEC D built to slow this kind of passing attack, but I don’t think they have the horses to do it against our 3 best receivers on the field at the same time.

They don’t have the offense to keep up either.

They’ll have to pick their poison. Blitz and have Joe pick them apart in the open field behind the blitz, or try to cover across the field. Either way they still have to make sure they cover the RB shallow and don’t leave escape running lanes open for Burrow. Good luck with that.

This offense is a thing of beauty.

I get what you're saying, but there is no reason to really think this. Good defenses still give up explosive plays to good offenses. Hell.. in 2017.. LSU had several "explosive" plays @ Alabama there for the taking, they just fell threw the receivers hands or were over thrown by Etling. Throwing any offensive scheme changes out the window, one huge reason why we're so successful on offense is because receivers aren't dropping passes that hit them in the hands. Joe is doing a great job at putting the ball in the right spot, but the receivers are where the most noticeable improvement has been. Assuming that doesn't suddenly change there shouldn't be a huge dropoff in production.
