All this sounds great until you realize that Burrow was a fraction of a second from being sacked. Had that trivial difference been realized, then Texas would have gotten the ball back and likely would have won the game. Then the defensive coordinator would have been lionized for making the perfect call at the perfect time. But that fraction of a second did not elapse; LSU got the pass off and won the game; and the defensive coordinator has to read a sportswriter describing exactly why he’s such an idiot.

Kind of glad to see that it isn’t just the rant that confuses quality of play calls with result of the call.

Not all good calls work out. Not all bad calls produce poor outcome. And mostly, results depend on a LOT more than the playcall.

I'm sorry but you at least drop the spy into coverage. He's not gonna beat the blitz on his feet and run for 17 yards most likely .if that guy drops into the middle of the field but not as deep then burrow may not throw the ball there
