they're generally cheaper if you have a good driving record and good credit. If you have a bad driving record then State Farm's rates will be really high. They protect their "low risk" customers much more than other companies.

Not the case in TN. I have Farm Bureau, but I check other companies each year. With no claims in 10 years, Farm Bureau is easily the best for the same coverage. State Farm is consistently the highest, even when I get quotes bundling home insurance, still higher than the others without a bundle.
