This trend has been developing over the past several years. Carhartt has become the brand of hipsters and white wanna-be-thugs.

Why does dressing like you do manual labor appeal to these groups?

Are you thinking about switching from Carhartt as they embrace this developing customer base?

It's sad too because 99% of those people refuse to do any type of hard labor ever

ETA: The hipsters that it... the white thugs are the baws down at Dow right now working for another 2" lift to their rig

Virtually all brands get ruined over time. I often forget Fila is still a legit tennis wear company.

Because it's a market that would allow them to sell their stuff for higher than practical/utility prices they command now.

Also, white thuggish townie types do a ton of manual labor and have probably been Carhartt customers for years.

I’m guessing they’ve identified an opportunity to gain market share.

My guess is that the boardroom and c-suite got an influx of estrogen in the recent past.

To expand their market and make more money?

I dont think their dollar signs in revenue have asterisks next to them showing that some of the revenue is “undesirable.”

It's not about caring. It's about judging. You can tell a lot about people based on what they wear.

Go look at the price of the Heron Preston x Carhartt collaboration

Like $400 for a carhartt t shirt.

Carhartt has randomly become a street fashion brand, especially in Europe.

For the same reason North Face shifted from an outdoor brand to a fratstar/soccer mom brand. You go after the biggest market segment you can.
