I had a friend who started at LSU in 1982. At the time, all freshmen who didn’t come from Baton Rouge had to stay in the dorms. In 1982, they didn’t have enough dorm rooms. Therefore, he (and MANY other freshmen) had to stay at that motel down Nicholson (towards downtown) his freshman year - arranged for by LSU. He said it wasn’t too bad because they got maid service and room service. However, I couldn't imagine living down Nicholson in a motel for my freshman year. Power was a f*cking blast.
In 1983, they changed the policy and let freshman live in off-campus apartments without LSU's involvement.

Not only did Hatcher have A/C and a cafeteria, it also had a bar in the basement around the corner from the cafeteria. Spent a month living in the dorm before we realized there was a bar there.

Hey MMauler. Could you tell me a little about Power Hall? Did they tear it down at some point? And what kind of dorm/was it a party dorm?
Whatever you know about it; any good stories would be appreciated. I used to visit a friend at LSU in the late 80's and have some vague, hard to remember exactly memories, with Power Hall being a central character.

The Prince Murat Motel. I remember that. I was in West Laville that year and pissed they got an a/c hotel while we sweated with no air.
