I guess my first question is how early should we get down there (it is a 6:30pm kickoff) and where are the best places to park?
How early you need to arrive depends on: A) if you have a parking pass B) what you are hoping to take in/do during the day C) how much walking you plan to do.
Best places to park will depend on all those same things. There is parking maps that will lay out what is free and what is paid. If you are planning to eat, and not have to walk far, that will play into where you park. So, you will need to answer more questions in order to get a better answer.

Where are the tailgates and what is the policy regarding alcohol at said tailgates?
The tailgates are literally everywhere. Regarding alcohol, just don't walk around drinking in glass bottles. That's basically it. Other than that rule, you are free to do whatever.

so I was wondering if there were any places to eat around campus during this time?
On the Nicholson side you have walk ons. On the highland side, there is a lot more. Chimes, Buffalo Wild Wings, Burger King, Cane's, five guys and plenty more on that end. Depending on where you want to eat, should depend on where you park. Otherwise you could be walking far to eat.

And lastly, my parents are on the older side and probably need a place to cool down; I'm expecting it to be extremely hot/humid down there, so are there any places that would be sufficient for them to take a breather?
It's going to be hot. Probably ridiculously hot. On the highland side the student Union and stuff is close by. That has food and would also give you a break from the heat. You won't be escaping the heat totally though, and even at 6:30 the game will be miserably hot.
