I don’t understand why people want to hunt with dogs. In the old days dogs were used because there were far less deer. I wish they would let the entire state vote to keep or ban dog hunting. I would be willing to bet it would be outlawed.

I don’t either, too damn expensive and seems like a pain in the arse, but it’s not for us to understand if we don’t care to

Shitty take, next thing we can vote to ban hunting and fishing altogether. You’d probably be fine with that also

This is a terrible idea. When we start letting public opinion decide management practices for hunting that should be science based, we end up with hunting being voted out entirely. Look at bear hunting in NJ, etc...

Public opinion is not what should rule the day on hunting management because the public is ill informed and manipulated by emotion.

Because it's a lot of fun. I drive 200 miles one way every weekend of dog season to our club with my son just for the thrill and fellowship with other members. They are the nicest bunch of genuine down to earth guys you'll ever meet. And to be honest, we could kill 10 times more deer still hunting.

I have never run dogs on public property, but I can tell you we do everything we can to keep ours on our property. But yes occasionally they get off. In the last 10 years we have only had 1 dispute with a neighbor because our beagles got on their property, but this was in the middle of the day and they weren't even in the stands.

And for those that say dog hunters are lazy, it's way more work than sitting in a stand staring at a pile of rice bran all day.
