Feldman talks LSU vs Texas on OTB...

When asked who he likes he said if he had to pick right now he would pick UT to win. He mentioned Herman’s record in big games as the underdog, the fact that the D is young but very talented and they are at home, two very good RB’s, statement game for Sam E., very talented pass rush, ?’s w/ LSU Oline and LSU ibreaking in a new offense. He said around big 12 and UT there’s a lot of confidence because they dominated UGA. He said If ya not a believer watch what they did to the dogs. He did go on to say he’s a believer regarding the Brady hire. I’m not as confident as I was a month ago. I can’t help but think about the 2016 hype around LSU leading up to the road game against Wisconsin. Eerily similar if ya consider the talent on that team and how no one thought Wisconsin had a shot.

Wisconsin had a shot because of the inept offense we ran that day (and season). This is an entirely new staff, new offensive philosophy and I believe we are more talented (time will tell).

This years team and the 2016 team that lost to Wisconsin have a pretty big difference at the QB position. I’m not concerned about this team going on the road to Texas.

That Wisconsin team wasn't replacing nearly as many starters as Texas will have to.

His arguments "could" happen for sure.
But Im going to go with the team that returns 7-8 playes on EACH side of the ball.

Good thing this isnt 2016.
Another good thing is that just bc something happened to a team 3 years ago, doesn't mean it has to happen again. LSU by 8

even most of the Austin sports media is picking LSU (mostly because UT lost basically their entire D). Yes they beat Ga by 7 but we beat Ga by 20

Wisconsin was a surprise top ten team that started I ranked
Texas is widely considered a CFP Contender.
If LSU has an offense I think We should win.
I still Think Texas is a year away given their loses on defense.

eh so did we...and to be honest i did watch that game again and i believe Georgia shot themselves in the foot more so that Texas dominated them

Only thing I’m concerned with is how well we know this new O. Second game on the road and can you be confident enough to have the go to plays when it gets loud or the momentum swings to Texas favor. I think Burrow is the man and this team will be ready.
Tigers by 12. Joe makes a big run to seal the game late in the 4th.

This reminds me alot more of Oregon vs LSU from 2011, except that Oregon team was alot better than this UT team

You mean when the fan base had to reluctantly buy back in after wanting Miles’ head?
Fournette was clearly hurt and Miles/Cameron continued to drag him out there instead of trying that backup running back that was kinda good
Guice had 2 carries in that game. What the frick

If LSU had fielded any semblance of a competent offense that day, they would've blown Wisconsin out of the water.
LSU's D was on the field all day, got dog-tired, and Wisky managed to score just enough points on them to win.
TOP: Wisky 37 mins vs. LSU's 23 mins goodness gracious, it doesn't get much worse than that.

Certainly Texas has a lot of talent and a guy who has proven to be a very effective QB. They also have a HC who has won some big games. Finally, they have the home field advantage. Combine all of that and you could definitely say Texas should be the favorite.
That said, some of the "worries" about LSU are a bit misguided. Particularly the comp between 2016 and now.
In 2016 LSU had a ton of experienced talent. However, they also had an inconsistent QB and more than anything else, a HC who simply REFUSED to change his offensive approach/mindset.
Here, I trust Burrow more than I trusted Harris to make the right play. Also, I don't think O is "set in his ways" on offense, simply because he has no "ways" on offense. Orgeron, in his entire career, has NEVER been involved in any aspect of the offense. This is completely Ensminger's and Brady's show. Now, that may seem like cause for concern considering Ensminger, while not terrible, hasn't set the world on fire as an OC. However, I don't feel Ensminger has a big enough ego to reject input from Brady. In fact, I think he happily welcomes it.
As for the concerns about a "new" offense, I think those are overblown. It's not as if LSU is going from a triple-option team to a Texas Tech type passing attack. I think the general structure of the offense will be much the same as last season. The change will be the approach. Rather than max protect to take some shots on long developing routes, the approach will be to get the ball out quicker, in space. They're not asking guys to do things they've never done before. They're just asking guys to do those things differently.

Texas is a really good team with a potentially elite quarterback. Anyone who doesn't think the Horns can win is deluded. I've got no problem with Feldman picking a really good team to beat another really good team.
But this game isn't 2016 Wisconsin and it's not 2011 Oregon. It's 2019 Texas. But I will give Orgeron credit in that we have at least seen signs he can open up the offense (see the Fiesta Bowl). And I've got tons of confidence in the LSU defense, which has the tools to be the best in the nation.
It's just a matter of which team puts it together first.

This anecdote is going to get beaten into the ground between now and 9/7.
Personnel wise I like LSU but UT is a good team and LSU will have to navigate thru the usual pitfalls of an early season true road game.
