Your words have indeed found me in a time of great consternation, the reasons for which must inescapably include the very same phenomenon referenced by your post.
Seriously, there is virtue in brevity. I don't like the way army officers wrote back then, nor do I like the way most people write now.

I disagree with you. Quick google search shows this great man did graduate an Ivy League school then got his law degree before becoming a lawyer.
We are smarter than ever. A working pair of iPhones or high power rifles would have ended the Civil War in days, not years. Because we are smarter now.
