Tex Winter, asst. basketball coach for dale brown for a while, on why he favored coaching offense over defense and always stressed points,
“ You know in just about every game I’ve ever seen the winning team has more points than the losing team.”

After LSU loss to No. 1 Notre Dame 3-0 in the early 70's, in a very hard-fought game, the Notre Dame newspaper stated the next morning, "If Notre Dame is No. 1, then LSU is No. 1A".

Chase Pittman said that Notre dame didn’t belong on the same field as us in Sugar bowl.

Gerry DiNardo to Thomas Dunson, “What you going to do the next time you intercept the ball in the end zone?”.
Dunson, “Take it to the house!”.

another Skip quote at a coaches committee meeting prior to a Tulane game during the late 90's.
"If Tulane grads attend the game, they will be allowed to park in the handicapped spaces if they put their diploma on the dash of their car."

quote:
Marquise Hill’s quote. Don’t remember the exact verbiage but was something to the effect of “people are going to start respecting LSU. If you don’t we’ll hit you in the mouth.”
I liked Hill's quote before the 2002 Gator game: "If you're scared get a dog". I think he added something like "You see any dogs around here?"

I hope we return to that level of play this year.

It was not the Notre Dame newspaper. The quote that LSU was “1A” was printed in the Chicago Tribune. The writer had covered Norte Dame football for about two decades. He knew the game had been stolen by the officials in the waning moments, when it became clear the Irish weren’t going to do it on their own. It was probably Joe Theisman’s worst day ever on a football field. The LSU D was a brick wall. I was there on that chilly
afternoon.
